Program Description

The Department of Art & Art History at the University of Miami has joined with the ceramics area, and the Founders group of Miami Hot to host a series of 3-day workshops for the winter of 2001.

The glass facility at UM was established in 1985 as part of the ceramics area. The Hot Glass Guild was later formed to operate the facilities. The Hot Glass Guild members have been invited into the Resident Artist Program in Glass in May of 2000. The program was established to provide experienced glass artists with space and time to work in the area along side faculty and staff. A fee is charged to cover gas and batch costs. Individuals interested in applying should send a letter of inquiry plus resume to the address listed in this brochure.

In 1999 credit courses were offered to the university students for the first time with great success. The credit classes continue as well as adult education programs in “Art After Dark”listings.

The Founders Group of Miami Hot has secured funding to upgrade the facility to accommodate both the new visiting artist program and the University credit program.
