"In the style of Rousseau" by Andrew Nagel, BS, Film, Theater Arts, and Painting, 1998 | |||||||||||||||||||
ART 301 is a structured painting course that asks the students to study assigned artists and then, by analyzing their color, spatial techniques, compositional characteristics, brushwork, content, and signature motifs, to create original art works that expand on the visual dialogue found in the works of the featured artists. There are usually two or three artists assigned in any given semester. For teh final project students then must produce three paintings in a style of their own choosing. one of these must be at least 4 x 6 feet. Before starting on the final painting for each of the assignments each student is expected to produce at least 5 full color compositional "sketches" in oil.
