Dr. Michael L Carlebach is the Interim Chair for the Department of Art and Art History. As a Professor of Art History he offers a study of photography as a visual medium of expression and communication: an examination of its origins, styles and uses. Dr. Carlebach is a published author, his latest book is entitled, Working Stiffs: Occupational Portraits in the Age of Tintypes and is published by the Smithsonian Institution Press. 2002
