.The cemetery outside the south gate of Pompeii is eerily redundant in that the entire city became a tomb for as many as 4,000 of its residents. I found the tomb above to be of particular interest in that it reflects the Roman interest in portrait busts. Much of the cemetary is yet to be excavated.
