Brunelleschi's famed collonade on the Ospitale delgi Innocenti was one of the few Renaissance structures that failed to leave a lasting impression on me of order and timelessness. I don't know if it was due to the large and mostly barren piazza in front of the building, the cars parked in front, or the spindly proportions of the columns but it failed to provide the sense of geometric presence I experienced at the Pazzi Chapel.
